What time should I arrive on my first day?
You should arrive at the school by 8:30 am on Monday. The orientation for new students starts at 8:45 am.
 
What happens on my first day?
You will receive an orientation, take a placement test, and take a tour of the school in the morning. After the break, you will attend your regular classes.
 
What do I need to bring on my first day?
You should bring your homestay telephone number/address and your health insurance card if you have one.
 
Who should I talk to if I have a problem?
If you have any problems with your homestay or your schedule, please talk to Student Affairs Coordinator.
If you have a problem with your class level, please speak with your teacher immediately.
 
What can I do on the weekends or after school?
Check the Focus Activity Calendar for events around town or school activities and trips.
 
How much pocket money should I bring with me?
We recommend $75-$100/week if you would like to join extra-curricular activities and go out with your friends on a regular basis.
 
Can I speak my own language in the school?
No!  Focus has a strict English only policy.
 
Where is the school located?
Focus is located on the 14th floor of the Northland Building (910) on 7 Ave SW in downtown Calgary. The Northland Building is directly across from McDonald’s and the 8th Street C-Train station.
